My project “Common Theatre”, made in Shanghai, uncovers the theatrical nature of the city and urban life— the public is positioned simultaneously as spectators and participants in a highly commodified, constructed urban environment.

For the project, I seek out venues that feel like public exhibitions, photograph candid tableaux that naturally emerge from the city’s dynamics, and reorganize them into a self-sustaining structure.
